Power Transmission and Distribution (T&D) Cable Market Increasing Demand with Leading Key Players 2025

Power transmission and distribution involves the bulk movement of electricity from a site that generates electrical energy (for instance a power plant) to an electrical substation. Also known as ‘power grids’ in North America, the combined distribution and transmission network consists of local wiring connecting high-voltage substations to customers. As most of the regions now have ‘liberalized’ electricity market regulations, the inevitable separation of the power distribution business from electrical transmission business is likely to promote the growth of the global power transmission and distribution (T&D) cable market.

Several market players are providing a wide range of expertise for projects via their skilled personnel including specialist project managers, engineers, environmental consultants, and designers. The planning of consent support, route and site how to become a computer engineer, grid connection support, tackling environmental constraints and understanding feasibility, and offering smart grid solutions are some major services offered by these companies. For instance, WSP Global Inc., a leading U.K.-based project management firm aiding the creation of substations and related infrastructure, helps in front-end planning, obtaining permits, suggesting power facility design, and cable selection and design.

Genetec kicks off new podcast series with Privacy by Design Architect

“When we talk about privacy vs. public safety, I can assure you that it is never privacy that wins, nor should it be. But what I reject, is the proposition that privacy must suffer,” insists Dr. Ann Cavoukian in “First Principles”, the inaugural episode of  Engage, a new podcast series hosted by Genetec Inc. (“Genetec”), a leading technology provider of unified security, public safety, operations, and business intelligence solutions.

Focused on exploring key industry themes with global thought leaders spanning multiple disciplines, Engage: A Genetec podcast, examines a broad spectrum of safety and security topics, from digital transformation in business, city, and government operations, to vital technology topics including privacy, data sovereignty, and more.

In “First Principles”, Engage hosts Kelly jobs with computer science degree and David Chauvin take on the often-controversial topic of privacy.

“In the world of privacy, Dr. Ann Cavoukian is a formidable force,” said Andrew Elvish, Vice President of Marketing at Genetec, Inc. “While Information and Privacy Commissioner for the province of Ontario, Canada, her work on Privacy by Design sparked a global revolution on how privacy is perceived by putting the onus on providers instead of users. Today, Dr. Cavoukian champions a pragmatic, proactive approach, which she feels is especially important in an age when more personal and behavioral information is being used to track and anticipate our activities – it is an important perspective that resonates within the practice of physical security as much as it does in the wider public.”

During this interview, Dr. Cavoukian who is now Executive Director of the Privacy and Big Data Institute at Ryerson University, talks about the importance of adopting a ‘Privacy by Design’ approach to software. She argues that the old “check the box” model for privacy compliance no longer holds up when considered in light of the type and volume of information being shared. When a software solution is designed from the ground up with privacy in mind, organizations don’t have to choose between protecting the privacy of individuals and their physical security, creating a win/win for the individual and the organization.

Dr. Cavoukian believes that there can be a positive sum between privacy and security. “Get rid of the ‘versus’ and let’s embrace privacy and embed it into the code of information technologies, business practices and networked infrastructure,” she says.

Palo Alto Networks Exposes Multi-Million-Dollar Cloud Misconfigurations

Today is October 9, 2020, and this is the SDxCentral Weekly Wrap where we cover the week’s top stories on next-generation IT infrastructure.Palo Alto Networks’ Unit 42 threat hunting team discovered two critical Amazon cloud misconfigurations in a customer deployment that if exploited could have cost the customer tens of millions of dollars.

The misconfigurations were found during a Unit 42 red team exercise on a client’s deployment. They discovered that the customer had made two critical Amazon misconfigurations specific to identity that could have led to a multi-million-dollar data breach.

Unit 42 then used that insight to mine public data from the GitHub repository where it found thousands of accounts that were also susceptible to similar identity misconfigurations. Exploitation of those flaws would have allowed an attacker to generate denial-of-service, ransomware, and advanced persistent threats against those accounts.

The research group was also able to move laterally without privilege by exploiting a misconfigured identity role related to flow-log management. They then escalated their privileges to gain administrative access to the entire cloud environment.

This allowed them to create new Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud and Relational Database Service instances and modify user and policy permissions. Attackers could then exploit this misconfiguration to steal sensitive data, wipe out infrastructure, or lockdown an operation with ransomware. Unit 42 did note that the flaws were not exploited, and it was able to work with its clients to secure the cloud deployments.

Nvidia launched a new line of data processing units and a data center architecture targeted at gaining a dominate position in the lucrative data center space. The new DPU is designed to take on hypervisor functionality that currently runs in the CPU. This allows for the CPU to focus on running applications and isolates a compromised host from the security layer in the event of a security breach. The what is computer engineering are built on technology acquired from Mellanox, which Nvidia purchased last year for $6.9 billion. Experts offer solutions to problems virtual learning students are facing

After students learning virtually told ABC 7 News that they’re struggling with technical issues, connectivity and network issues, speed of the internet and the worry of not having teachers in face-to-face interactions at a second’s call.

ABC 7 News followed up by speaking to Amarillo Independent School District and an IT expert in an effort to offer parents and students the solution to common problems students encounter on a regular basis.

The first step is making sure you have a functioning, high-quality router.

“There's plenty of times where a good router is broken a little bit inside, it doesn't do good processing,” said Andrew Monroe, director of operations at Plains Internet.

You also need to be close enough to the router.

“A lot of people use a single router in their home when their home might need more than one router for range issues,” Monroe said.

Monroe tells us one of the higher bandwidth consumptive activities is streaming video.

“So, if students are also having trouble on that front, depending on what service they're using, they might want to do something like turning off the video that they're sending, or turning off receiving video from all of the other students, where they're only receiving the teacher's video or making sure that they're really only getting one stream of video coming in,” said Monroe. ABC 7 News also spoke to Tracey what do computer engineers do, Amarillo ISD’s Director Of Counseling, who has been working through some of the virtual education troubleshooting. She said virtual learning has been a work-in-progress but there is always help available.
